If you have spent 5 minutes on Etsy I am pretty sure you have seen a Black Apple sweetie. The Black Apple is the work of Emily Martin. She has been around Etsy for a while now and has become wildly successful. When you see her work, full of beautiful colors and textures, you understand why she has become a full time successful artist. I have gotten to know her in a tiny online way from reading her blog and her sweetness expands far beyond her paintings. Her fashiony style is so lovely and whimsical. She is an avid baker and adorable sock wearer. She makes the cutest stuffed sweeties, Spoonflastic fabric…

…and has the best taste in cities. She will be moving her little Black Apple bottom on over here to Portland Oregon and we are super excited to have her around town! I am giddy to the brim with my two Black Apple prints and plan to have a wall full of her sweet gals.

Wunderkind Magnets in Progress

Wunderkind Magnets in Progress

I had to take a minute to stop and show you guys the amazing little works of arts my new friends at
Wunderkind have been working on. I am so pleased to have found them on Etsy and to be working with them on a custom line of MayaBella magnets! Wunderkind is the amazing Duo of Lexi and Ben. Happily married in wedded bliss, Lexi and Ben have two beautiful daughters and loads of adorable wood painted friends. Stay tuned for previews of the finished work!

I scream! You scream! May 2, 2008

Ok so I don’t scream for ice cream any more but when I was a little girl I would have screamed for Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream! Now I just whine a little until my husband makes a run for 31 flavors. Or I pop on over to Etsy and find something like these little earring tasties. These along with the tiny cupcakes are my daughters favorite Etsy treasures. Sky Blue Bunny has my vote for the sweetest Etsy earlobe treats.

Voila! Bandanna into Tote April 27, 2008

I just couldn’t resist snatching up a few of these bandannas from the Etsy Labs . I absolutely love the different style lettering and the little birdie. These Etsy folk come up with some super Etsy stuff. This bandanna inspired me so that I decided to make it into a cool little tote. Now it is romping around town spreading the Etsy word!

Is your fridge full of those thin cheep pizza place magnets? Or local law office advertisement magnets? Is your fridge getting teased by all the other fridges because of her lack of fashion sense? It doesn’t have to be that way. Make over your fridge! Liberate her from the shame she has endured! These handmade wooden magnets by Brezomayo have added such flare to our fridge. Brezomayo, out of Maine, creates beautiful handmade goodies. Her sense of style will add that touch of loveliness that all homes need.

Today was a very cold wet rainy Portland day. I remind myself on these days that this is the reason it is so lush and beautiful in the North West. But a nice warm cup of joe also helps. I rarely go one day without using my Betz White Cup O Joe Pincushion. I decided to go with the kit and make my own. I was really happy to find the directions easy to follow and the supplies truly great quality.

In February 2007, Betz appeared on the Martha Stewart Show and has been featured in many magazines, including Country Living, Adorn and CRAFT. She is the author of the new book, Warm Fuzzies, 30 Sweet Felted Projects.

Juiced up keys April 16, 2008

When I was a young 80s girl trying to make it through the 4th grade in San Clemente CA I attemted to follow many of the trends. And one, if you remember, was the crazy massive amounts of keychains. I had like 50 keychains and not surprisingly, no keys. They would dangle cheerfully from my backpack full of My Little Pony, Rainbow Bright and Care Bear plastic happiness. Alas… no keys.
I am happy to say that I have moved on from the massive tangley lump of plastic key parafanalia to a simple fruity Strawberry Lanyard With Dangle Leaf by Bloody Bunny hailing from Berlin, Germany.

This is by far one of my favorite Etsy purchases! I almost want to buy another just in case mine gets lost.
